Dear Rye Residents,
As the keepers of local history at the Rye Historical Society, we are saddened by our current situation and heartened by the outpouring of support that our community has shown for neighbors, frontline workers, business owners and for others who may need a helping hand. We have been chronicling Rye stories related to public health past and present on our Facebook page, @RyeHistoricalSociety and on our website, https://www.ryehistory.org/stories. Please consider supporting us by joining our e-mail list, following us on social media and making a donation to help us continue to collect and share these important stories in our community.
We have also supplied local schools with valuable resources during this challenging time for students and teachers, and we are sharing two of the resources below for anyone in the community to enjoy. With our historic homes officially closed to the public, the Virtual Tour of the Square House and the Knapp House/Milton Cemetery Scavenger Hunt offer knew ways to learn about local history, all while observing social distancing rules!
Please reach out to learn more, send us stories, share your feedback and consider supporting us as we work to capture this important moment in history.
